Dr. Nakeisha Owens-Griffin serves as an Education Consultant for the State of Tennessee, where she trains school districts, teachers, and administrators in over 200 schools and community agencies. She has over 28 years of combined education and child welfare advocacy experience.
Dr. Owens-Griffin completed her doctorate in higher and adult education. As a former educator and adjunct professor, she utilizes her knowledge of andragogy to engage with adults of all ages. As an Education Consultant, she received a Proclamation from the Tennessee Senate for her outstanding service to the 800–1,100 youth in DCS custody in Shelby County. She is a well-respected, fierce advocate for foster youth.
Dr. Owens-Griffin devotes most of her time to ensuring that foster children receive resources, equity, and advocacy. She is the mother of two young adults, a dynamic public speaker, and an author. She has overcome myriad challenges and is passionate about using her knowledge of adult learning theories to help young adults thrive. She is a true champion for resilience and positivity.
